Numbers released for March show a slight increase in single-family home and commercial construction projects, allowing overall construction spending to make the first gains in two months.
A steep drop in state and local government spending reigned in the increases; however, manufacturing indexes also showed increased levels, with the Institute for Supply Management showing the fastest monthly increase in over a year.
A mild winter may have contributed to these positive numbers, in that construction projects have been getting underway sooner than expected.
